             abstract = "This article refers to the comparison of clonal eucalyptus 
                         plantations and planted for seed in the southeast of the State of 
                         Rio Grande do Sul, considering different periods of growth. To 
                         analyze data of leaf area index and dendrometric data (height and 
                         diameter at breast height) of eucalyptus clonal plantations and 
                         planted for seed in different ages. The methodology referred to 
                         field data collection (leaf area index, diameter at breast height 
                         and height) in three forest plantations (of three, five and seven 
                         years of age). In each of these orchards, data were collected on 
                         site and clonal seed, using the equipment LAI 2200 (IAF), the 
                         hypsometer Vertex (H) and a measuring tape (DAP). The results of 
                         the three variables analyzed allowed to differentiate the tations 
                         and by seed, also considering variations depending on the age of 
                         the eucalyptus. It was concluded that the use of these data have 
                         enabled reliable analysis field for differentiation between 
                         eucalyptus and clonal populations by seed, contributing new 
                         information for the study of tree populations in the region 
                         studied.",
